Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl says he recently met with owner Dejphon Chansiri, who is set to attend the Burnley game this weekend.
It’s not often that Sheffield Wednesday fans get to see owner Dejphon Chansiri in the flesh. But they might be able to spot him on Saturday.
It’s been revealed that the Owls owner is set to attend Sheffield Wednesday’s clash against Burnley in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
It’s the first game that Chansiri has attended since the 3-0 win against West Brom back in April.
Tensions between fans and Chansiri at the time were very high, with one fan chanting for Chansiri to ‘get out of our club’, in front of Chansiri, who pushed the fan away.
Last season saw protests against Chansiri lead by The 1867 Group. Though tension between fans and Chansiri has massively died down following a positive summer transfer window.
Danny Rohl jokes about meeting with Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri
During his presser on Thursday, Rohl revealed that he’s holding talks with Chansiri and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell with regards to the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday could sign players on loan in January, Rohl suggested, after having success in doing so last January.
Chansiri is set to attend the game against Burnley this weekend. Speaking to The Star, Rohl discussed the meal he had with Chansiri this week.
Rohl said: “It was a nice meal, some Thai food. I liked it – maybe a little bit spicy! In the morning he was in the training ground.
“These are normal things, hopefully I can give him a good game on Saturday while he is here.
“This is what we want to do as a team, to show him how strong we are at the moment. It is good he is here, but we always are still in contact.
“Nearly every week we speak, sometimes a call, sometimes Zoom. It is normal stuff, sometimes he will ask what is in my mind or my opinion, it all goes in the right direction.”

Does Dejphon Chansiri still have a big say at Sheffield Wednesday?
Fans have long been concerned about how much input Chansiri has at Sheffield Wednesday, with the Thai businessman seemingly having had to much in previous years.
Now though, it seems clear that Chansiri has handed a lot of decision-making power to Rohl, whilst retaining a big say in the overall running of the club.
The Star in their report say that Chansiri ‘retains a firm steering hand on matters Wednesday from afar’, and given the lack of a director of football or someone similar, it seems as though Chansiri will still have a large input for the foreseeable.
Last month, rumours start to circulate on social media that Chansiri was readying for a Sheffield Wednesday takeover after he cleared upwards of £20million in club debt.
No more news or rumours of a takeover has cropped up since, however, with Chansiri seemingly having no plans to sell, but rather to attract more investment at Sheffield Wednesday.
