With the January transfer window looming, it’s not just about players arriving at Hillsborough, as Danny Rohl drops hints that one Sheffield Wednesday starlet could be heading out on loan.
Sheffield Wednesday are going strong right now in the league, and Danny Rohl can now positively look towards the January market as an opportunity for his team to improve and push on this season.
When it comes to players arriving at the club, we know Sheffield Wednesday can only rely on loan signings rather than spending any actual money on transfers.
But, the players currently at Sheffield Wednesday may also have moves on the horizon, with Sean Fusire the latest to be touted as a possible exit in the New Year.

Danny Rohl is considering a loan move for Sean Fusire in January
Speaking to the press today (via the Sheffield Wednesday YouTube channel), Rohl was asked about what January holds for the promising young midfielder, and hinted pretty heavily that a loan move could well be the way forward for Fusire.
Rohl said: “Of course, the cup games were very helpful. I think not just for him, but for us, to just see how far he is or how close he is, gives me a very good feeling. Then in January we do what makes sense.
“On the one side it’s about having him here and making sure we can achieve our goals. On the other side we also have to look at the bigger picture, for the long term, and whether it’s helpful for him to play every week, or three games in a week until May. But for this it must be also the right fit.”
On what the ‘right fit’ entails exactly, Rohl outlined Fusire’s key attributes and how any club wanting to loan him would need to align with that playing style.
“I think his strength is playing football from the back,” Rohl added. “If you have a club that’s just looking for long balls I think this would not be the right fit for him. We want to build up his strengths, but lets see.”
Sheffield Wednesday will need Sean Fusire next season
At 19-years-old, and with the talent he possesses, Sean Fusire absolutely must go on loan in January, as he simply isn’t getting the opportunities he needs at Hillsborough right now.
That’s not a bad thing. If anything, it says a lot about the quality Rohl has in the middle of the park right now, but it also doesn’t mean that Fusire can’t be a huge asset for the Owls next season.
At the moment, Shea Charles is the key man in midfield alongside Barry Bannan. However, we know Southampton will inevitably want Charles back at the end of the season.
With Charles gone, and Bannan (surely) heading towards the end of his career in the very near future, Fusire has to get experience under his belt quickly so that he can be ready to step into the spotlight for Wednesday going into the 2025/26 campaign.
