Of all the players Sheffield Wednesday have out on loan right now, Bailey Cadamarteri is the most exciting, but his future is unclear.
Sheffield Wednesday made the decision to send their young striker to Lincoln City, and it was thought the move was perfect for Bailey Cadamarteri at the time.
However, despite a bright start at his temporary club, game time has been harder to come by for Bailey Cadamarteri of late, and Owls fans are getting restless.
With the January transfer window looming, Danny Rohl will be keen to adjust his squad slightly to ensure they keep making progress, but does Cadamarteri fit into that short-term plan?

Danny Rohl insists Lincoln loan was the right move for Bailey Cadamarteri
Speaking to the press (via the Sheffield Wednesday YouTube channel), Rohl was asked about the progress, or lack thereof, that Cadamarteri has made during his time at Lincoln City, and insisted the young striker is not about to be recalled.
He said: “Of course, we look to the minutes. We know how the manager works there. He will take a lot of strikers during the game and from game to game.
“For Bailey it’s about, even if it’s 10, 15 minutes, work hard in this, try again. He’s scored some times now, this is good. It’s about playing week by week and then we will make a decision. But at the moment, I think it was not the wrong decision to take him for loan out.”
While Rohl is seemingly determined to keep the teenager where he is, Cadamarteri has come in for some criticism from Lincoln City fans of late, and it would appear the situation needs resolving one way or another.
Bailey Cadamarteri should stay put, it’s all about next season
This may be a frustrating period for Cadamarteri and for fans watching his progress, but it should all be for the greater good in the long-term.
Cadamarteri himself has spoken positively about the move and how it will prepare him to make an impact at Sheffield Wednesday next season.
| Statistics | Bailey Cadamarteri (2024/25) |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 17 |
| Minutes played | 709 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Shots on target % | 43.8 |
| Shots per 90 | 2.16 |
Plus, there is a lot to be said about stability and consistency. Dragging the youngster out of Lincoln and sending him elsewhere will mean he will need to adjust and settle into a whole new environment, and that risks resetting all his progress.
In retrospect, sending Cadamarteri on loan may have been the wrong call by Danny Rohl, but it’s done now, and he will learn valuable lessons through the ups and downs of this spell with Lincoln that he can carry into his very bright future with the Owls.
