He may not be at the club right now, but Bailey Cadamarteri is doing everything right when it comes to laying the foundations for a successful career with Sheffield Wednesday.

After showing glimpses of what he is capable of for Sheffield Wednesday over the last couple of years, Bailey Cadamarteri is continuing his impressive development with a loan spell at League One side Lincoln City.

It’s a switch that is paying dividends for all parties so far, with Cadamarteri’s goals helping Lincoln climb into the top six, while Danny Rohl is seeing one of his most exciting young players gain incredibly important experience.

Cadamarteri himself has already insisted he is ready to take the next step in his career and establish himself at Wednesday next season, and it seems the club has been doing all it can to ensure that happens, too.

Sheffield Wednesday keeping a close eye on Bailey Cadamarteri

There are high hopes around Cadamarteri, and the fact he is making great progress down in League One bodes well for his future.

But, it turns out Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl have, and continue to do everything they can to make sure the loan spell runs smoothly.

In a piece from The Sheffield Star on Cadamarteri’s situation, it is revealed the club specifically selected Lincoln City as his next destination, due to the fact Michael Skubala’s side play a very similar style of football to Rohl’s system.

On this, Cadamarteri said: “I had a good chat with the gaffer and I knew the style of play would suit me and I hope that’s proving to be the case.”

Still, a bit of variety is not a bad thing, and Cadamarteri suggests even if he is not playing Rohl’s way at Lincoln, it is all helpful. He added: “There are always going to be things I need to brush up on. I could be playing the Danny Rohl way here and it might not be his (Skubala’s) way of playing, and playing differently here allows me to pick up things I can take back to Sheffield Wednesday.”

It is also said that Rohl, and youth coach Neil Thompson, have been keeping close tabs on Cadamarteri while on loan, with the trio in constant contact about how things are going.

Bailey Cadamarteri is on fire at Lincoln City

Clearly, the decision to send Cadamarteri to Lincoln City has been a shrewd one, with the youngster playing every league game for his temporary club this season, and finding himself among the goals.

It’s vital experience for a teenager who obviously has bags of talent, and who is working his way towards a bright future with his parent club.

With Sheffield Wednesday struggling in front of goal this season, the need for a natural goalscorer has become even more apparent, and Cadamarteri can fill that hole next year.

There have been calls for the youngster to return even sooner than that, with fans wanting a recall in January, but for the sake of the player’s development, this run of regular game time is crucial.

If the Owls can remain patient, they will reap the rewards next season with a young striker brimming with confidence, with a full season under his belt, and something to prove in the Championship.
