Sheffield Wednesday were dealt a blow when Akin Famewo limped off against Portsmouth. But that’s not the only injury Danny Rohl is now dealing with.
Sheffield Wednesday fans were gutted to see Akin Famewo limp off the pitch during the 2-1 win at Portsmouth on Friday night.
The 25-year-old has been a key performer for Danny Rohl’s side this season, with Rohl confirming a muscle injury for Famewo after the game, in what could well be a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Dominic Iorfa came on in his place. The long-serving Sheffield Wednesday man stood up to the challenge on his return to action and looks set to soften the blow of Famewo’s injury.
Famewo joins the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah on the sidelines at Hillsborough. But now there’s another injury concern for the Owls to deal with ahead of a congested run of fixtures between now and the New Year.

Danny Rohl confirms Olaf Kobacki injury blow at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday summer signing Olaf Kobacki was left out of the squad that travelled to Fratton Park on Friday night.
23-year-old Kobacki picked up a knock against Bristol City earlier in the month and missed the following game at Coventry City, but returned against Burnley.
The Polish winger also featured off the bench against Swansea. But after missing out the trip to Portsmouth, Rohl confirmed an injury blow for the summer signing from Polish outfit Arka.
Rohl told The Star: “It looks like a big one, it could be six or eight at the moment.
“With a muscle injury you never know, it takes time and with a muscle injury you take a scan, you look at how it goes with the treatments.
“It’s a shame, but it’s time for others to take the opportunity and step up.”

‘Special’ Sheffield Wednesday man bound to keep starting spot now
Like Rohl says, the injury to Kobacki is a blow but it means that there’ll be chances for other players to step up.
And one name who now looks set to keep his spot in an ever-changing Sheffield Wednesday attack is Josh Windass.
Labelled a ‘special footballer’ by Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison on Friday night, Windass scored the opening goal on the night, now being Wednesday’s top scorer in the Championship this season with three.
With Kobacki sidelined, Windass looks destined to claim one of the three attacking spots over the next few weeks, whilst Michael Smith could be in contention to keep starting games after his impressive Pompey display.
The third attacking spot is seemingly up for grabs right now, with Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama the main ones in contention.
