Sheffield Wednesday gem Bailey Cadamarteri has gained the plaudits from captain Barry Bannan.

Sheffield Wednesday had a brilliant weekend by all things concerned as they came back from a one-goal deficit on the south coast to beat Portsmouth 2-1.

The goal that certainly took the headlines was an absolute thunderbolt courtesy of Michael Smith, who arrowed it into the top corner, whilst Josh Windass bagged another goal to take his tally up to three in the 2024/25 Championship campaign.

The win has taken Danny Rohl’s side up to 13th in the league table, with them impressively sitting just four points behind the final play-off spot.

Aside from the Owls victory, there was another star performance away from Fratton Park as Bailey Cadamarteri bagged another goal whilst out on loan at Lincoln City, and it has certainly piqued the interest of Sheffield Wednesday royalty.

The young striker managed some time in the first team under Rohl last season as he scored a few crucial goals for the side in S6 that made all the difference in keeping them in the Championship.

Despite falling somewhat out-of-favour with the German boss, his resulting loan spell has proven to be massively beneficial for his development, and he managed to bag yet another goal for the Imps, which proved to be the winner against Stockport County.

After taking to Instagram to share his delight over scoring his third League One goal, Owls captain Barry Bannan left a response, which read: “Well done Bailey keep it going.”

Danny Rohl will be taking extra interest in recent positive Bailey Cadamarteri loan

Whilst it was up for debate this summer over whether Cadamarteri should be kept in-and-around the squad for the upcoming season, Rohl made the statement of sending him out on loan to League One, and it is a move that has certainly benefitted the 19-year-old, who has been ‘brilliant’.

The Owls youngster will without a doubt be aware of the ongoing striker situation in S6, and it is one that shows that there isn’t quite a dependable man leading the line at this moment in time.

This is also something that Rohl will be fully aware of at this moment in time, and it could easily be an option that the German boss could turn towards Cadamarteri in January and recall him from Lincolnshire.

It would without a doubt be deserved at this moment, especially when you compare it to the ongoing poor performances of both Ike Ugbo and Jamal Lowe.
