Sheffield Wednesday return to Championship action on Saturday against Cardiff City, following the November international break.

The Owls lost against Sheffield United in the Steel City Derby before the break, leaving Danny Rohl’s side 15th in the table and looking for a positive reaction.

Rohl will have likely worked through the Owls squad’s disappointment over derby day in training, but he will have to contend with the mixed emotions of his international stars.

Shea and Pierce Charles impressed for Northern Ireland, but it was a different story for Di’Shon Bernard, who had a nightmare display for Jamaica. Whether they’ve had strong weeks or not, though, all focus will now switch to Cardiff’s visit to Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday Injury News

Rohl and The Owls have received welcome defensive reinforcements this weekend, with Michael Ihiekwe spotted in training ahead of the Cardiff clash.

Nathaniel Chalobah has also returned to fitness over the international break, leaving him in line to make his long-awaited Wednesday debut on Saturday.

Rohl will continue to be without Akin Famewo and Olaf Kobacki who remain sidelined with longer-term injuries.

Prediction

Cardiff have been struggling in the Championship this season and find themselves in the relegation zone after back-to-back defeats. This should make them ready for the taking for The Owls, but their inconsistency makes it hard to know which version of Rohl’s side will show up.

However, if a performance like Wednesday’s win over Norwich City can be found, they should have enough for all three points. We’ll go for a 2-0 win.
