Sheffield Wednesday are close to completing their deadline day transfer business.
The Owls have endured a turbulent day after coming so close to signing Orlando City striker Duncan McGuire this morning.
Sheffield Wednesday had previously launched four bids for the American before they were told Blackburn Rovers were to sign him, however they were given another chance when the deal collapsed overnight.
However, fans got their hopes up only for them to be crushed again when it was today reported that McGuire was on his way to Blackburn to undergo a medical.
There lack of action did look concerning at one point, however the Owls have since dusted themselves and kept going.
A deal for Leeds United’s Ian Poveda progressed incredibly quickly, with reports now claiming the winger is in Sheffield for a medical, with the club ‘confident’ of completing the switch before 11pm.
They were also said to be winning the race to sign Swansea City defender Kristian Pedersen, with journalist Rob Staton now claiming that that deal will also be sealed today.
With Poveda and Pedersen set to join the club, Staton also reported that there would be no further arrivals.
He wrote on X: “As of now, expecting that Ian Poveda & Kristian Pedersen will be Sheffield Wednesday’s only deadline incomings.”

Sheffield Wednesday really needed some attacking reinforcements, and while they failed to land a striker, Ian Poveda will surely add a bit of creativity and, most importantly, depth to their squad.
Kristian Pedersen is a very important signing too, given the Owls’ lack of natural left-backs.
They have mainly been playing Marvin Johnson on the left-side recently, with Reece James still out of favour at Hillsborough.
Pedersen also has bags of Championship experience, having made over 160 appearances for Swansea and Birmingham City.
It’s two very solid signings for Danny Rohl‘s side, but lets just hope they don’t regret not bringing in a No.9.
