Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly the favourites to win the race for this deadline day signing.
It’s not been an easy deadline day for Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl.
The Owls have been linked with a few players and will have no doubt been working hard behind the scenes on many more potential new signings.
But so far, there’s not been a single deadline day signing at Hillsborough, with the earlier signings of James Beadle and Ike Ugbo last month being the club’s only winter signings so far.
Leeds United’s Ian Poveda is being closely linked though, and so too is Swansea City left-back Kristian Pedersen.
And it’s said that Sheffield Wednesday are now winning the race to sign the latter with BBC reporting that the Owls are ahead of 2.Bundesliga outfit Schalke in this particular transfer chase.
The same report also reveals that it’ll be a loan deal, with the 29-year-old Dane under contract at Swansea City for another 18 months.
A late boost for Sheffield Wednesday on deadline day
All at Sheffield Wednesday will have been left feeling deflated going into today, after seeing so many transfer targets slip through their grasp.
And then earlier today when it was revealed that Duncan McGuire to Blackburn Rovers was back on, it left fans and perhaps all at the club deflated.
But it looks like the Owls will be rewarded for their persistence in the transfer market with a couple of late signings potentially on the horizon.
Pedersen will add a wealth of experience to their ranks with more than 150 Championship appearances under his belt, and he’ll greatly bolster the left-back position and also the central position too.
Now with Sheffield Wednesday reportedly ahead of Schalke, it seems like it might be a case of beating the clock where this Pedersen move is concerned.
