Sheffield Wednesday have been handed a late, and very unexpected transfer boost in their pursuit of Duncan McGuire.

The USMNT man currently plays for Orlando City but is reportedly in the UK this week.
He looked set to complete a move to Wednesday’s Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers in a deal worth over £2million, after the Owls had multiple bids rejected.
Now though, Fabrizio Romano says that Sheffield Wednesday are back in talks.

Posting on X last night, transfer guru Romano revealed that Danny Rohl‘s side are now ‘back in talks’ to sign McGuire before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, after his move to Blackburn Rovers collapsed.

Sheffield Wednesday’s need for a new striker was evident in their goalless draw vs Watford at Hillsborough last night.
The Owls had plenty of the ball and passed it around nicely. But there was a distinct lack of cutting edge in the game and if a new striker isn’t brought in before 11pm tonight, the Owls might really struggle in the second half of this season.
But McGuire would be a huge signing; Wednesday rarely spend this much on players and so it shows that they have a very serious interest in the player, who netted 13 goals in the MLS last year; his first season in the US top flight.
After a move to Blackburn looked all but sealed yesterday, Sheffield Wednesday now have a dramatic lifeline, but only a few hours to make the move happen.
