Sheffield Wednesday look set to add Charlie McNeill to their attacking ranks after the striker officially became a free agent.
He’s left Manchester United and is now expected to sign for Sheffield Wednesday, where he looks set to become the club’s sixth signing of the summer so far.
Danny Rohl appears keen on bolstering his attacking ranks following the departures of loan stars Ike Ugbo and Ian Poveda.
McNeill will add some youth to the front-line. But Rohl may want others coming in with proven scoring experience in order to give Sheffield Wednesday some guaranteed firepower for next season.
One other striker linked, among quite a few, is Duncan McGuire, who missed out on a move to the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday last summer.
Now, it seems as though McGuire may be set to leave Orlando City.

Blackburn Rovers beat Sheffield Wednesday to McGuire’s signature last summer, but a paperwork error from Blackburn meant that he had to return to Orlando City.
Since, Sheffield Wednesday’s links to the 23-year-old have been reignited ahead of the 2024/25 season, with McGuire currently in fine form in the MLS.
He’s scored seven goals in 17 league games this season but has now rejected the latest contract offer from his current club, per journalist Tom Bogert.
Bogert adds that McGuire is under contract until 2026, with Orlando holding options to extend his deal in 2025 and 2026.
McGuire is hoping for a move to Europe during the European summer transfer window this year.

McGuire has long seemed like an ambitious move for Sheffield Wednesday. But the Owls are showing plenty of ambition in the summer transfer window.
Their signings so far suggest that the club under Dejphon Chansiri and Rohl this summer mean business.
Though having already spent on Yan Valery, and with Sheffield Wednesday expected to sign Olaf Kobacki for a fee as well, whether or not there’s money left for McGuire remains to be seen, if not unlikely.
And with other teams such as Torino eyeing a summer transfer for McGuire, and with Orlando City clearly not wanting to sell cheaply, McGuire arriving at Hillsborough this summer all of a sudden seems highly unlikely.
But the link is another ode to Sheffield Wednesday’s ambitious summer transfer market so far, and their hopes and plans for a brighter future under Rohl.
