Following news that Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign Charlie McNeill from Manchester United, the Owls now appear to be closing in on another Premier League talent.

Reports emerged on Monday revealing that Sheffield Wednesday are expected to sign Charlie McNeill following the expiry of his Manchester United contract.

The striker looks set to become the Owls’ sixth signing of what is proving to be a very exciting summer transfer window at Hillsborough.

McNeill will bolster a growing Sheffield Wednesday front-line, with Jamal Lowe recently joining the club on a free transfer, as first revealed by Sheffield Wednesday News.

Olaf Kobacki also looks set to join Sheffield Wednesday from current club Arka in the Polish second tier.

And after McNeill and Kobacki, or even before the pair arrive, Sheffield Wednesday appear to be closing in on a deal to sign another Premier League youngster ahead of the 2024/25 campaign

Sheffield Wednesday trying to ‘finalise’ loan deal for Brighton gem James Beadle

Sheffield Wednesday have been keen to re-sign James Beadle on loan from Brighton following the England U20 man’s positive spell in S6 last season.

The Owls signed Beadle during the January transfer window and the 19-year-old went on to keep eight clean sheets in 19 Championship outings, displacing the now departed Cameron Dawson in the starting XI.

Now, journalist Joe Crann has revealed that Beadle is in Sheffield as the club ‘try and finalise’ a deal for him to return on loan ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday News revealed in May that Brighton were set to send Beadle out on loan this summer, regardless of their own goalkeeper situation.

Sheffield Wednesday must avoid transfer pitfall with James Beadle

Beadle returning, and ideally for a whole season this time, will be great news for Rohl.

Beadle really compliments the passing style of play at Sheffield Wednesday, and he showed great improvements in his shot-stopping abilities last season too.

Should he re-sign for the 2024/25 season, though, then Sheffield Wednesday will be left without a no.1 this time next summer.

At which point, another loan for Beadle or a permanent swoop might be out of the question, so Rohl needs to pay thought to eventually signing a permanent goalkeeper at Sheffield Wednesday.

But in Beadle and Ben Hamer, and youngster Pierce Charles, Sheffield Wednesday have a very solid goalkeeping department for the 2024/25 season.

So far, this summer is proving to be very exciting for the Owls, with praise due to owner Dejphon Chansiri for showing ambition with the club, following several tough years.
