Sheffield Wednesday have been very quiet on deadline day so far.

For once though, Sheffield Wednesday aren’t panicking, needing last-minute transfer deals and whatnot.

Danny Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell got to work straight away and got deals over the line early on.

So far this summer, Sheffield Wednesday have signed 11 new players, with Southampton midfielder Shea Charles joining on loan earlier this week.

It’s said that Rohl is keeping an eye on potential deadline day signings at Hillsborough, but that he’s not pushing the boat out for any new players.

Sheffield Wednesday talking to Everton over possible Mason Holgate deal

A new name has finally been mentioned alongside Sheffield Wednesday in the final hours of the summer transfer window; Mason Holgate.

The 27-year-old who can play at right-back and centre-back spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, featuring 10 times in the Premier League.

He’s out of favour at Everton under Sean Dyche, and reporter Alan Myers has now revealed that Wednesday are in talks with the Toffees over a possible deal for the Englishman.

It’s not clear whether or not this would be a loan or permanent deal, though.

Will Sheffield Wednesday sign Mason Holgate on loan or permanently

With owner Dejphon Chansiri having spent well this summer, including a £3million deal for Ike Ugbo, it seems unlikely that he’ll spend anymore.

So expect a possible deal for Holgate to be on loan, possibly with the view to a permanent deal with Holgate failing to get into the first-team picture at Goodison Park; he’s out of contract next summer.

For Rohl, it’s a potential signing that would add Premier League experience to his side, and a versatile defender in a defence perhaps lacking a bit of balance right now.
