Yesterday was a busy day where one particular Sheffield Wednesday player was concerned.
Sheffield Wednesday were in transfer headlines yesterday. Though one name dominated the headlines more than most; Marvin Johnson.
The 33-year-old was first reported to be the subject of interest from title-hopefuls Ipswich Town after his rejuvenation under Danny Rohl.
Then it was revealed that the Tractor Boys had submitted a £1milion bid for the left-back, and then it was revealed that said bid had been knocked back by the Owls.

Speaking to Yorkshire Post ahead of this weekend’s Championship clash at home to Coventry City, Rohl had this to say on the Johnson to Ipswich Town rumours:
“I know all the topics are very interesting and for everybody outside and I can understand. But I cannot speak about any news and transfer rumours. If we have something, we come out with our message.
“But I can say we work hard in both directions at the moment. At the moment, there is no new information. At the moment, it makes no sense to speak about all the things that could be or could be not.”
So far this season, Johnson has featured 13 times in the Championship, scoring three and assisting two; all of his performances have come under Rohl.
Rohl comments suggest Sheffield Wednesday movement
Rohl rarely gives anything away where transfer rumours are regarded.
But his comments on Johnson seem to hint at a very real possibility of Johnson leaving Hillsborough this month, as the German fails to rule out the possibility.
Ipswich may well have been surprised to see their initial £1million bid rejected given the fact that Johnson is now 33 years old.
But credit to Sheffield Wednesday; they want to keep their best players for this survival fight and Johnson is certainly a key player for Rohl.
Down the left side, Johnson’s creativity and eye for goal has been a defining factor in this upturn in form under Rohl, so selling him, and to a Championship side as well, would be criminal.
But there’s an argument that rejecting such a high offer for an ageing player is likewise.
Whether or not owner Dejphon Chansiri would allow that money to be reinvested remains to be seen; if it was reinvested, then selling Johnson might be a worthwhile decision.
