Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a seven-figure transfer bid for one of their players.

It’s a credit to how Danny Rohl has got them performing, but a headache at the same time with the Owls now at risk of losing some key names this month.
And one name now in transfer headlines is Marvin Johnson.
He’s a reported target of Ipswich Town and now it’s been revealed that the Tractor Boys have made their opening bid for the 33-year-old.

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has revealed on X that Ipswich Town are not just in talks to sign Johnson, but that they’ve seen their opening bid of £1million rejected.
It comes after reports emerged earlier today, revealing that Ipswich had in fact tabled an opening bid for Johnson.
Crook adds that ‘movement on the fee’ is expected in the next 24 to 48 hours, and whilst Johnson remains loyal to Wednesday, he is determined to play at the highest level possible.

Despite being 33 years old, and despite Johnson likely being one of the several players out of contract in the summer despite his last contract extension never being disclosed, the Owls look like they’re standing firm here.
And it’s no surprise; Rohl only has Reece James as his other recognised left-back, and he’s featured just five times under the new boss.
Johnson is not only a key member of the XI, but he’s also a key reason behind the club’s recent upturn in form.
His attacking quality on the left has given Sheffield Wednesday a new and dangerous outlet, with Johnson having netted three and assisted two more in his 13 Championship outings since coming back into the side.
Ipswich’s interest is a credit to him and to Rohl also, who’s got him performing at a top level once again, and it’d be understandable if Johnson wanted to make the move to title-challenging Ipswich.
Wednesday will have to replace him and that won’t be easy, especially now with less than two weeks of the transfer window remaining.
But if the Owls can sell Johnson at a good price and replace him with a similar, but much younger player, it could prove to be good business for Rohl’s side.
