Sheffield Wednesday fell completely silent on transfer deadline day.
The Owls enjoyed plenty of transfer business in the early stages of the transfer window.
While they signed Shea Charles this week, they were still expected to push for the signing of a new centre-back and an attacker.
Sheffield Wednesday failed to make a single signing today though, despite reports of their interest in Mason Holgate.
The Everton defender made ten appearances on loan at Sheffield United last season before returning to the Championship with West Brom on deadline day.

Sheffield Wednesday fail to land a centre-back
Wednesday failed to land Holgate or any centre-back, but there has been a suggestion that they may never have been interested in him in the first place.
After the 27-year-old completed his loan switch to The Hawthorns, The Star journalist Joe Crann wrote on X: “FWIW, never heard anything about #SWFC being in for Holgate.”
It remains unclear whether the Owls were ever trying to sign Holgate, but either way they have made no further additions.
The Owls could still do with more competition in their backline
While a striker seems less important given that Michael Smith ended up staying at Hillsborough, it still feels like they could have done with another defender.
The Yorkshire outfit have conceded six goals in their last two matches in the Championship, while Danny Rohl was urged to drop Dominic Iorfa this weekend.
With Di’Shon Bernard a guaranteed starter for Wednesday, they could have really done with a further addition to compete for his partnership.
Iorfa may well improve as the season goes on, but it doesn’t feel like their backline has strengthened enough to be challenging further up the table.
Holgate may well have not been the answer, but surely another centre-back would have been a huge benefit in the final hours of the window.
The likes of former Luton Town man Dan Potts and ex-Leeds United favourite Liam Cooper remain without a club though, so perhaps Rohl’s pursuit isn’t over.
