Sheffield Wednesday have been told the one thing that will give them a chance of beating the drop this season.
Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 away at Coventry City in the Championship yesterday, and with Huddersfield Town beating Blackburn Rovers, the Owls are now nine points adrift.
Danny Rohl has now seen his side lose their last two after a positive run of three wins in four.
Once again, Wednesday have been reminded of the mountain they have to climb this season, and Joe Crann believes that only the January transfer window can give the club a fighting chance of survival this season.

We’re edging ever closer to the opening of the January transfer window.
As ever, for teams up and down the Football League it’ll prove to be a crucial month of buying and selling, and readying themselves for the business end of the campaign.
And it’s no different for Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls are in definite need of bolstering next month and with a new Head of Recruitment coming in this month, it looks like Wednesday and owner Dejphon Chansiri are ready to hit the transfer market.
Taking to X after yesterday’s defeat, Crann laid bare the struggles that Wednesday face this season, highlighting the need for a positive January transfer window at Hillsborough.

There’s a few key areas which Rohl may look to bolster next month, given the inconsistent run of results since his arrival back in October.
Starting at the back, Cameron Dawson continues to come under criticism, especially so after an error in the defeat vs Cardiff City last week, so a new goalkeeper could be a priority.
Elsewhere, a ball-playing centre-back continues to be a need for Wednesday if they want to play out from the back, though it appears that new strikers will be at the fore of Sheffield Wednesday’s thinking next month.
Bailey Cadamarteri has scored some important goals since coming into the team and he looks set to play an important role for the club going forward, but Rohl will know that Cadamarteri needs some competition and cover for the second half of the campaign.
Scott Hogan is one name who’s been linked and it’s said that Chansiri is ready to spend big on a loan striker, though whether that’s true remains to be seen.
So there’s plenty of work to be done and expect Sheffield Wednesday to be relying on the loan market.
But if the Owls can make a good go of it then they’ll definitely boost their survival chances, like Crann says.
