The Owls went into this one with plenty of optimism after a comeback win over QPR last time out, marking their third win in four outings.
But today it was the opposition who came from behind to win at Hillsborough.
Anthony Musaba scored in the first half but Cardiff equalised in the second through Karlan Grant, then finding a late winner due to an unfortunate own goal from Akin Famewo.

Looking back on today’s game, Rohl will definitely see it as being points dropped.
Sheffield Wednesday were in cruise control at 1-0 up going past the hour mark, having plenty of the ball and plenty of chances to score a second; the Owls had an impressive 17 shots but only five hit the target.

Today’s defeat keeps Sheffield Wednesday in 23rd place of the Championship table.
They remain six points from safety with Darren Moore and his Huddersfield Town side losing away at Norwich City, and QPR losing at home to 10-man Southampton.
Stoke City and Millwall drew 0-0 at the bet365 Stadium, whilst bottom club Rotherham United lost 3-0 away against league leaders Leicester City.
Lessons learned for Danny Rohl and his players
It’s hard not to get carried away with this current upturn in form under Rohl.
Wednesday look like a completely new team and they dominated today’s game as well, largely being undone by two key moments; both unfortunate ones but both were probably avoidable.
Though like Biggs says, Wednesday lost the game today on the basis of not putting away their chances.
They created enough and had shots on goal, but it was that killer instinct that they lacked today, and that’s something they’ll surely want to address in January.
Bailey Cadamarteri put himself about once again but he struggled somewhat, finding himself isolated and at times muscled out by the Cardiff defence.
There’s still plenty of positives to take from today’s performance, but plenty of things to learn from and to take into 2024.
