Sheffield Wednesday are yet to offload any players this summer.
Eight players were released at the end of the season to make way for ten new additions, but the Owls will still have to send some packing ahead of deadline day.
The Star have reported that Michael Smith is one who could be on his way out after attracting interest from Wrexham, while Mallik Wilks is in talks over a move to Rotherham United.
The pair still remain on Sheffield Wednesday’s books for now though, but it now looks like they could potentially part ways with a ‘fantastic’ player who has been key for the club over the past few seasons.

Oxford United chasing Sheffield Wednesday ace
According to The Star journalist Alex Miller, Oxford United have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing Marvin Johnson.
Miller wrote on X: “Told Oxford United are among the clubs to expressed an interest in taking Wednesday wide man Marvin Johnson heading into the final fortnight of the transfer window. Likelihood of move not yet clear. One to keep an eye on.”
According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Derby County are another promoted outfit that are considering swooping for Johnson.
The 33-year-old was subject to bids from Ipswich Town in January, but Wednesday were eager to keep hold of him.
Johnson made 29 appearances last season and picked up eight goal contributions, but his place in the squad is in doubt now following Max Lowe’s arrival.
The winger previously spent the 2016-17 season with Oxford, bagging nine goal contributions in League One.
The newly-promoted clubs are now keen to lure him away from Hillsborough, but it is unclear whether the Owls will be willing to offload him.
The club triggered a one-year extension clause in Johnson’s contract at the start of the summer, meaning he would be likely to leave for free next year.
Should the Owls sell Marvin Johnson?
According to Capology, he is currently raking in around £10k-per-week in Yorkshire – a fair amount for a player now sitting on the bench.
Johnson could be a good one to get off the books in order to make further signings, however his versatility has become very handy and a departure would mean Akin Famewo would have to fill in as Lowe’s back-up.
If Wednesday do bring in a new centre-back that can take Famewo’s place, with the 25-year-old covering on the left, then Johnson’s exit may not be as much of an issue.
Oxford and Derby may not push ahead with their pursuit, but Johnson could favour the move if it means regular minutes.
Danny Rohl will have some tough decisions to make in the final two weeks of the window and may have to part ways with some players who were very important to the club’s survival last term.
