Sheffield Wednesday fans are calling for change as the club enters yet another embargo under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.
Sheffield Wednesday are currently under embargo due to amounts owed to HMRC by the club, and for the second time in as many season.
It’s sparked a new wave of criticism at owner Dejphon Chansiri who turned a corner during the summer transfer window, paying good money for players and backing manager Danny Rohl with a new contract.
But all that good work may soon go to waste as the Owls run the risk of a three-window embargo should their HMRC debt not be settled on time.
On Wednesday, there was a fresh update shared on the situation, with journalist Alex Miller revealing that Sheffield Wednesday remain confident of the embargo being lifted sooner rather than later.
Still, criticism is pouring in for Chansiri on social media. And some comments from talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan earlier in the year are now more relevant than ever.

What Simon Jordan said about a Sheffield Wednesday takeover
Speaking in April 2024, talkSPORT pundit and former Crystal Palace owner Jordan claimed that he thinks Sheffield Wednesday would be a club he’d consider taking over, if he were to get back into football ownership.
He said: “In my book, one of the questions I’m asking myself is, if I was to buy another football club, which one would I buy?
“One of the clubs I mentioned was Sheffield Wednesday because it’s got huge potential.
“It’s a huge area. It’s got huge catchment. It’s got a huge support base. It’s a proper football club in a proper area.
“If you wanted to build that football club and embrace the fans, you would be able to achieve it.
“If you wanted to have help with the training ground, you wouldn’t be having local planning permission from the council in London saying you can’t do this because someone somewhere with a telescope can’t see their view.”

Have Sheffield Wednesday had any takeover interest in 2024?
Last season, there was takeover interest in Sheffield Wednesday. Chansiri met with a consortium to discuss a possible sale of the club, but it was later claimed by The 1867 Group that Chansiri had ‘not acted in good faith’.
It’s thought that the consortium did everything necessary to move talks forward, but Chansiri just halted discussions from his end, ultimately leaving the club in his hands.
Now, should a possible buyer look into Sheffield Wednesday, they’ll have Chansiri to deal with, who’s known to be a difficult negotiator.
But like Jordan says, Wednesday remains a club with huge potential. The fan base and the history of the club makes it something of a sleeping giant in the Championship, but one that’ll never fulfil its potential so long as there’s these ongoing off-field issues.
Unfortunately for Sheffield Wednesday fans, Chansiri seems too emotionally and too economically tied into the club to consider selling anytime soon.
Chansiri does want fresh investment at Sheffield Wednesday, however, and that might be the club’s only hope of these off-field woes coming to an end.
