Sheffield Wednesday wing-back Yan Valery came on from the bench and made a significant impact, whilst Barry Bannan in-the centre-of-the-park was phenomenal.

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan must have future decided after recent performance

Bannan most certainly put in a performance that was incredible at the weekend against Portsmouth, and he certainly ‘made a difference’ for the Owls on this, as well as many other occasions, per The Star.

Even when Sheffield Wednesday went through an initial dry spell, particularly in front of goal, Bannan managed to get some crucial goals for the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl has certainly managed to get the very best out of the Scotsman, and as a result the concerns over his future will start to become much more real.

He is without a doubt an indispensable part of this current Sheffield Wednesday outfit, and they will without a doubt not want a repeat of the back end of the 2023/24 campaign where his, as well as Liam Palmer’s future was still undecided.

Barry Bannan future uncertainty could have ripple effect on performances

From a player welfare standpoint, there should be little time wasted from Sheffield Wednesday in tying down the Owls’ key players’ future, and that without a doubt includes Bannan.

Whilst it didn’t make a difference in regards to tangible performances, as the Owls were a force to be reckoned with at the back end of the 2023/24 season, a repeat of the uncertainty could more than likely have an affect on Bannan’s motivation, although there is no doubt that the Sheffield Wednesday skipper will approach this situation with professionalism.

There should be no chances taken with the captain’s future, although his heart lies in S6, and it will certainly look better on the club if action is decided sooner rather than later and be proactive with such a decision as this one.
