Sheffield Wednesday, once again, earned a massive three points in dramatic fashion in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday now have four wins to their name in the Championship this season, with three of them having couple in the last couple weeks.
A win over Blackburn Rovers was followed up by a win at Stoke City, and after a 3-1 defeat at Norwich City in midweek, the Owls returned to winning ways this afternoon.
Danny Rohl watched from the sidelined as his side dug deep, scoring two late goals to beat relegation rivals QPR 2-1 at Hillsborough.
After another monumental win and memorable afternoon, here are three things we’ve learned about Sheffield Wednesday…
Never write Sheffield Wednesday off
In games and seasons before, once Sheffield Wednesday fell behind, that was it.
And under Xisco Munoz earlier in the season; he had no real ideas about how to turn a game in Wednesday’s favour.
But Rohl is proving himself to be a shrewd tactician. His changes and his side’s shape kept them in the game despite trailing for most of it, and their hard work in the high press eventually paid off, with two late goals a credit to the club’s ‘never say die’ attitude that has been embedded since Rohl’s arrival.
Rohl CAN rely on Bailey Cadamarteri
Bailey Cadamarteri was on the scoresheet yet again today.
He now has three goals to his name in the Championship this season to make him the Owls’ joint top scorer in the league, and despite his young age, he’s showing no signs of immaturity or inexperience whatsoever.
Going into every game, there’s always the question of whether or not Rohl will keep on starting Cadamarteri, as at 18, too many starts and first-team exposure could hinder his development greatly.
But he’s steadily proving to everyone that he can handle this high pressure situation that the club are in right now.
Hillsborough is a fortress
Three out of Sheffield Wednesday’s four wins this season have come at Hillsborough.
At times this season and in the past, playing at home has been tough for the Owls as the pressure can be overwhelming.
But this attitude and belief that Rohl has instilled has made Hillsborough a warming place for the players once again.
Fans are steadily coming back into the ground and they’re witnessing some great, entertaining football matches, and most importantly, some huge wins.
Teams in Sheffield Wednesday’s position have to rely on home form to get them out of the drop zone and right now, home form is very good
