Sheffield Wednesday welcome Bristol City in the Championship this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday return to Hillsborough tomorrow where they welcome 12th place Bristol City.

The Owls go into this one on the back of a 2-0 win against Millwall last weekend, with Danny Rohl‘s side having won two of their last three to find themselves four points from safety.

Liam Manning’s Bristol City meanwhile lost 1-0 at home to QPR last time out; they’ve won two of their last three though, beating Middlesbrough and Southampton before that loss against QPR.

David Prutton predicts huge Sheffield Wednesday win against Bristol City

And making his score prediction for this weekend’s game, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder David Prutton has tipped his old club to get another huge win in their fight for survival.

The Sky Sports pundit predicts a 2-1 Wednesday win, writing:

“Sheffield Wednesday are looking up again, after that brilliant win at Millwall last week blew open the relegation battle and gave them real hope of climbing out of the bottom three at some point.

“Bristol City, meanwhile, saw their momentum halted. Nothing quite sums up the Championship like turning over Southampton and then losing at home to QPR in the space of four days. The play-offs may be beyond them this season, but Liam Manning will still want to build some momentum and positivity around the place. Despite that, I think Wednesday just need it a bit more and they could nick it.”

When these two teams met at Ashton Gate earlier in the season, Barry Bannan was shown a controversial red card as Sheffield Wednesday went on to lose the game 1-0.

Belief back at Hillsborough after big wins

Three games ago, after the 4-0 defeat vs Huddersfield Town and before the win against Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday were eight points adrift.

At that moment, the Owls looked doomed. All their hard work under Rohl had come undone in a catastrophic defeat at Huddersfield, though as the Owls keep on doing so, they’ve turned it around.

The gap to safety has halved and after that win against Millwall, it seems like the Owls have the wind in their sails, and they’ll be banking on their decent home form to get a win tomorrow.

Sheffield Wednesday now sit 19th in the home form table. Bristol City though sit 9th in the away form table and so they might be relishing a trip to Hillsborough as they look to mount a late play-off surge.

And in Manning, Bristol City also have a very tactically astute boss, so we could see a very interesting battle of the brains in tomorrow’s game, with both sides capable of knicking what would be a big win for either of them.

Kick off is at 3pm, and Rohl and co will also have a close eye on QPR as they host bottom club Rotherham United, and Millwall as they head to Southampton.
