Sheffield Wednesday loanee John Buckley has said that if the Owls keep playing like they did on Saturday then they will have ‘every chance’.
Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Watford on Saturday afternoon in manager Danny Rohl’s first match since his appointment over the international break.
An 82nd minute goal from Yaser Asprilla goal gave the hosts all three points, whilst the Owls were also denied a controversial penalty in the second half.
The result keeps Wednesday at the foot of the Championship table.
Buckley on Rohl’s style of play
Speaking to the media following the defeat to Watford, Buckley believes that Rohl’s style of play will eventually get the Owls picking up points.
“The manager has been very positive and he believes in us,” Buckley told the Sheffield Star.
“He’s putting his principles into training, and we’ve trained really hard this week. I feel we put that into practice, but unfortunately we haven’t come away with anything.
“There’s still a lot of games to go and it was always going to be a challenge, but it’s something we’re up for. As you’ve seen, there were plenty of positives. Every game is important and if we play like that then we have every chance…
“Each manager has different styles of play and things like that, but all the lads have bought into it so far. I thought our pressing was good today, we got the crowd against them which we wanted to do a little bit, it’s just a shame we didn’t come away with any points to be honest.”
Everything positive abut Rohl so far
Whilst Rohl’s start as Wednesday boss did not go as planned, hearing the players come out with comments like these can only be positive.
It shows that the players are buying into his system, which will hopefully turn into points on the board, with Wednesday yet to pick up a win so far this season.
John Buckley has struggled along with the rest of the squad so far this season after joining on loan from fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
