Sheffield Wednesday have this afternoon announced the appointment of Danny Rohl as the club’s new manager. He has stepped into management for the first time and replaces Xisco Munoz at Hillsborough.
The Owls decided to part with the Spaniard after he claimed just two points from the opening 10 games of the season. Neil Thompson oversaw the Huddersfield game last time out and claimed a third point of the season.

Now Rohl will hope to revive the fortunes of the flailing South Yorkshire-based club. At 39-years-old, he will bring some modern-day ideas to Hillsborough and that can only bode well.
Wednesday appoint Danny Rohl as new manager
It’s good that Wednesday have made this appointment now. Rohl will have a full week of training with his new players and they’re going to have to get to work.
It would appear that the team are going to have to get fitter to play how Rohl wants his team to play. He’s made an exciting claim on his arrival at Wednesday and supporters will be delighted to hear his aims.
He told Football Daily: “For my football, I want to play forward, I’m a guy who is always thinking forward. We want to play aggressively, we need high intensity in our game and we have to push out. This is what I want and this is what I demand from my players now that I arrive here.”
Rohl needs to get the Owls firing quickly
Wednesday can ill afford to fall any more points adrift of the bottom three. They currently sit seven adrift of Stoke who are 21st in the Championship and they need wins quickly.

The Owls fan base will be delighted to hear that Rohl wants his team to play on the front foot. However, there is no time for him to get players in and he must work with what he’s got at his disposal.
Still, that won’t faze Rohl and he will be keen to start making a name for himself as the club’s manager. If he plays an attractive style of football it could make a refreshing change from the nightmare reign of Munoz.
