James Beadle was highlighted what he found ‘funny’ during Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Millwall.
James Beadle joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion last month and expected to challenge Cameron Dawson for the number one spot.
He didn’t have to do much grafting though, lasting only one game on the bench before he was thrown in against Coventry City. Dawson then picked up an injury that has allowed Beadle to remain in between the sticks ever since.
The teenager has endured his first taste of making mistakes in front of the Owls’ crowd, with one leading to a Leicester City goal last week. However, he has also picked up three clean sheets in his six appearances in the Championship so far.
Beadle played a key role in Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Millwall at the weekend, in what proved to be a ferocious match for the home side, who ended up sacking their manager as a result.
The goalkeeper clearly thrived off the atmosphere at The Den though, making some important saves to help claim a vital three points.
Despite his age and lack of experience, Beadle really enjoyed the intensity in the English capital.
Speaking to The Star, he said: “It was a good win and one we needed, obviously it was a toxic atmosphere.
“You hear everything to be fair, I think it was quite funny. We know we need to keep going, get on a bit of a run and it feels like we’re heading in the right direction. Every game we go into we believe we can win and hopefully we can do that.
“Every game we look to get three points. We have a good group of players and when I came in I was really impressed with the standard of training, every day every training session is such a high level and the tactical detail from the gaffer and Henrik is unreal.
“It would be a massive achievement (to stay up) and hopefully I can do my bit to help us along the way. Everyone here believes we’re going to stay up, we all have belief in the team, so why not?”

Cameron Dawson has returned to training this week and could be in line to make his comeback against Bristol City.
However, after three clean sheets in six games, it would be a surprise to see Beadle drop out. The youngster is beginning to get into the swing of things and building up his confidence, so to drop him now would only hinder his development.
Dawson has struggled with inconsistency during his time at Hillsborough and Beadle’s arrival may suggest his time as number one is up – even if the Brighton loanee will be leaving at the end of the season.
Dawson’s contract is also up, and while he may stay at the club, the refreshing presence of a young goalkeeper like Beadle may encourage Danny Rohl to invest in a goalkeeper upgrade.
