The King’s Cup Dubai takes place later this month. It features some of football’s best-known former players, and one Sheffield Wednesday legend too.
Two star-studded teams go up against each other in Dubai at the end of November, in the King’s Cup Dubai 2024.
One team is managed by former England and Chelsea skipper John Terry and the other by Dutch icon Edgar Davids.
Other huge names of footballing past feature as well, including Franck Ribery, Jay Jay Okocha, Michael Owen, David Villa, Paul Scholes, Clarence Seedorf, and David Silva to name a few.
And oddly enough, there’s one Sheffield Wednesday legend featuring in the match, along with a former Owls flop too.
Achraaf Lazaar features in the game. The Moroccan spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Newcastle United during the 2018/19 season but managed just four appearances in the Championship.

Keiren Westwood set to feature in King’s Cup Dubai match
Along with Lazaar, another, much more iconic former Sheffield Wednesday man in Keiren Westwood features in the game.
He’s the goalkeeper for Terry’s XI, called Hedge & Sachs Royals XI, and the Irishman’s teammates include the likes of Paul Pogba, Blaise Matuidi, Stephen Ireland, Theo Walcott, and Emmanuel Adebayor.
The game also features a one-off ruling, allowing for each team’s ‘King’s Guard’ to be on the field at the same time as the rest of the XI, immune from bookings, but limited to 15 minutes per half.
Sheffield Wednesday hero Westwood joined Crewe Alexandra in February 2024 after two years without a club. The 40-year-old was later released.
For the Owls, Westwood made 199 total appearances, keeping an impressive 73 clean sheets during that time as well.
