Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 2-0 by Burnley in the Championship on Saturday, with the Clarets now in 1st.
Sheffield Wednesday, on the whole, gave a relatively decent account of themselves against Burnley, who’ve a much bigger and much more expensive first-team squad.
Danny Rohl’s side were undone at Hillsborough by some lapses in concentration, one coming from Owls summer signing Yan Valery for Burnley’s first.
Then at the other end of the pitch, Sheffield Wednesday proved wasteful with Ike Ugbo firing over a chance from close range, whilst Djeidi Gassama failed to do anything with the sights of goal that he had.
Whilst fans are frustrated, there are some positives. But there’s a lot of stick being aimed towards Valery after the defeat.

Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Yan Valery mistake vs Burnley
Burnley got off the mark on Saturday thanks to a poor mistake from Valery.
The Clarets attempted to get in behind the Owls defence, but it looked as though the attack would come to an end as Yan Valery got in front of the forward ball.
But he helped it into the path of Jaiden Anthony who scored past James Beadle.
Sheffield Wednesday fans were understandably angry with the mistake, which was easily avoidable.
Comments ranged from ‘awful mistake’ and ‘terrible mistake’, with one fan adding, ‘can’t account for a mistake like that’.
Similar comments read ‘Sunday league stuff’, ‘schoolboy error’, with one fan even saying that he ‘doesn’t get’ the hype around Valery.
Perhaps the most damning comment on Valery read: “Shock horror- Valery takes his eye off the ball yet again and they capitalise.
“This is a habit he needs to get out of.”
Yan Valery enduring mixed start to season
Valery shone on his Sheffield Wednesday debut against Plymouth Argyle at the start of the season.
Since then, the former Southampton man has had good and bad performances for the Owls, with one particularly bad performance against Sunderland back in August.
It’s not helped having played at both right wing-back and centre-back, as he was today. But errors like the one against Burnley are inexcusable at this level.
How he reacts to this error though will be the big thing here. He’s showed his class this season, but now he needs to find consistency
