Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has suffered a recruitment blow, with the deal to hire Nico Knaubel as set-piece coach falling through.
Rohl has been looking to add a set piece coach and a goalkeeping coach recently, focusing on bringing in a goalkeeping coach after reportedly having a deal done for Knaubel.
However, it appears Rohl will now to focus on hiring a set piece coach once again.
Rohl confirms deal for set piece coach collapses
Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Rohl confirmed that a deal has collapsed for a set-piece coach, and that they will now be looking to bring in someone else to fill the position. It is said the coach he is speaking about is Knaubel.
“With the set piece coach we have to find a new solution – but I have also some in my mind. We will do this in the next two days,” Rohl said following the 3-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday night.
According to the Sheffield Star, Knaubel’s deal fell through due to complications with his work permit, following his arrival in England.
Another blow for Rohl
This news will no doubt come as a blow for Rohl, who will need all the help he can get as he has taken on what could feel like an impossible job.
After another humiliating defeat on Wednesday, the Owls remain at the foot of the Championship table, failing to win any of their thirteen games so far, only picking up three points after draws with Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and Leeds United.
They will be hoping to pick up their first three points of the season when they face fellow strugglers and Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at Hillsborough, in Rohl’s first game in charge at home.
