Sheffield Wednesday signing Jamal Lowe has discussed the possibility of earning promotion with the Owls one day.

Jamal Lowe joined Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer this summer, as first revealed on Sheffield Wednesday News.

The attacker is one of several players to arrive on a free transfer this summer and one of nine total players to have arrived at Hillsborough.

He bolsters a Sheffield Wednesday attacking third which has so far lost last season’s loan duo Ike Ugbo and Ian Poveda, along with Lee Gregory who was released.

Lowe also brings promotion experience to the Sheffield Wednesday first-team squad, having won promotion from the Championship with Bournemouth in 2022.

Lowe has also won promotion wit Portsmouth in the past; from League Two in 2017.

Th Jamaican international certainly brings a lot to the table for Danny Rohl, and Lowe is now looking to write history with Sheffield Wednesday, who’ve not played in the Premier League since 2000.

Jamal Lowe discusses potential Sheffield Wednesday promotion in 2024/25 season

Speaking to The Star, Lowe has discussed the possibility of earning promotion with Sheffield Wednesday, and ending the club’s near-25-year wait for a return to the top flight of English football.

Lowe also suggested that the Sheffield Wednesday first-team as a whole are destined to earn promotion in the near future, if not next season.

Lowe said: “That’s a big thing [promotion], it’ll be history won’t it? It’s 25 years, so those players will be remembered for a very long time and that’s something to push for.

“Everybody has their own career and they’ll want to look back on their career and be proud of achieving this together or having done that in their career. We’ve all got that in mind.”

Danny Rohl will add one key element in Sheffield Wednesday quest for promotion

Sheffield Wednesday enter the 2024/25 season on a new slate, with new and improved expectations under Rohl.

An whilst the German brings a lot to the players and to the fans with his innovative tactics and so on, he’ll also be the man to manage expectations next season.

Realistically, a mid-table finish would be a huge achievement for Sheffield Wednesday.

But form from the second half of last season had Sheffield Wednesday within the top 10, and having improved their playing squad, there’s definitely reason to believe that the Owls could be dark horses in the second tier next season.

Lowe and his Sheffield Wednesday teammates could yet write history, along with Rohl, and soon deliver the Owls to the Premier League.
