Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has given an injury update on attacking duo Ike Ugbo and Josh Windass.

The Owls are getting ready for a clash against Derby County, with Danny Rohl’s side hoping to notch a second successive Championship victory.

Sheffield Wednesday will be going into the game with plenty of confidence after previous games, especially with the performances of the likes of Shea Charles.

Unfortunately, on the attacking front, Rohl could potentially be without key names after he lifted the lid on whether Owls pair Josh Windass and Ike Ugbo will be involved, although the blow will be cushioned due to the fact that striker Michael Smith is currently in form after his goal vs Hull City.

The German boss has now given an update on the attacking pair of Ugbo and Windass and whether they are set to feature for Rohl’s side against Derby County.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl issues injury update on Ike Ugbo and Josh Windass

Owls attacker Windass scored the opener against Hull City from the penalty spot, something that has been quite a rarity for Sheffield Wednesday in recent years.

Despite his top performance in the midweek, it is not a guarantee that he will feature for the Owls against Derby County after Rohl said in the pre-match press conference: “Josh [Windass] looks OK. We have to look tomorrow. We need one more day.”

Rohl also provided an update on Ugbo, who has been out-of-form recently, but has shown clear signs of improvement in a handful of games.

Rohl added that: “Ike Ugbo also for him we have a little bit to look at. We cannot risk something. Let’s see what happens there.

“And all the other players are fine.”

Rest could be massively beneficial for Ike Ugbo

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Ugbo is still yet to find the back of the net in the 2024/25 Championship season ever since he arrived on a permanent deal this summer.

It is clear that there has been a lot of weight upon the Canadian’s shoulders in recent times as a result of the hefty fee that he arrived for, and it could do him the world of good to spend the next couple of games on the sidelines, something that Rohl has the freedom to do as a result of the current top form of Smith up top.

Sheffield Wednesday, unlike in previous weeks, have now got the freedom of choice between attacking options, and it will be very helpful for Rohl to be able to rely on Smith, whilst Ugbo potentially takes time out, as the German boss is certainly correct in stating that there is no need to ‘risk’ the attacker.
