Sheffield Wednesday get underway in the Championship in less than two week’s time.

Sheffield Wednesday host Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle in their opening game of the 2024/25 Championship season.

Owls manager Danny Rohl will be eager to put his new-look first-team squad to the test against what will be an equally new-look Plymouth under new boss Rooney.

So far this summer, Sheffield Wednesday have been to Austria and Germany for part of their pre-season preparations, having added nine new players to their ranks, and with more expected as well.

In August, the Owls play four Championship games and one Carabao Cup game, and here’s how you can watch them all…

Sheffield Wednesday vs Plymouth Argyle

Sheffield Wednesday’s first Championship clash is against Plymouth Argyle at Hillsborough on Sunday August 11th at 4pm.

This game is the only Championship game on that Sunday and is available to watch live on Sky Sports football.

Hull City vs Sheffield Wednesday

After the game vs Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday travel across Yorkshire to the Humber for a clash against Championship rivals Hull City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday August 14th at 7:45pm.

ITV and Sky Sports have partnered to show a select number of Carabao Cup games this season, with this one available to watch on Sky Sports +.

Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday’s first away game in the Championship this season is a trip to Sunderland; the place where they finished their last Championship campaign with a 2-0 win to secure Championship safety.

The Owls have happy recent memories of travelling to the Stadium of Light, and this one is again being shown on Sky Sports football.

Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday kicks off at midday on Sunday August 18th.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United

Sheffield Wednesday then return to Hillsborough for what’s always a fiery Yorkshire clash with Leeds United.

This one kicks off at 8pm on Friday August 23rd, with this one again being shown live on Sky Sports football.

Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls’ final game of August marks their first trip to London, with a game against Millwall at The Den.

It’s also Sheffield Wednesday’s first Saturday 3pm kick-off of the season, and hence, this one will not be available on Sky Sports.

There are currently no domestic options to watch this game live; per the EFL, ‘iFollow/club streaming services will cease to offer domestic live video coverage of EFL matches’ next season.
