Sheffield Wednesday take on Cardiff City in the return of Championship football this weekend, following a two week break.
Sheffield Wednesday are back at Hillsborough following the November international break, hosting Welsh outfit Cardiff City in a 12:30pm kick off on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the weekend, Danny Rohl’s side sit in 15th place of the Championship table and Omer Riza’s Cardiff City sit in 22nd, though only three points separate the two teams.
The Owls have lost three of their last four in all competitions. Last time out, Sheffield Wednesday lost the Steel City derby 1-0 at Bramall Lane, but won their last home game 2-0 against Norwich City.
Cardiff meanwhile have lost their last two; against Luton Town and then Blackburn Rovers. But the Bluebirds were six unbeaten before then, winning four.

Sam Parkin shares Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City score prediction
Giving his score prediction ahead of the weekend, EFL pundit Sam Parkin tipped Cardiff to lose momentum after seeing their strong run of form come to an end before the break.
He said on the Championship Check-In podcast: “I’ve just got a feeling that the choppy waters may appear a little bit, for Cardiff, after that brilliant run.
“I wasn’t too impressed with them at Luton and the results, obviously, have plateaued. So I think a repeat of what Sheffield Wednesday did against Norwich is here.”
Parkin has predicted a 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday win, expecting a repeat of the Owls’ comfortable 2-0 win against Norwich City at the start of November.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City H2H
Last season in the FA Cup, Sheffield Wednesday thumped Cardiff City 4-0 at Hillsborough shortly after the New Year.
Goals came from Josh Windass, Liam Palmer, and Mallik Wilks that day, with an own goal as well.
But the Owls lost both Championship fixtures against Cardiff last season, both by 2-1 scorelines, with the Bluebirds winning away at Sheffield Wednesday in the last game before Christmas Day.
The Owls haven’t claimed a league win against Cardiff since the 2020/21 season when Wednesday hammered the Bluebirds 5-0 at home, despite going on to finish last in the table that season.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday haven’t claimed back-to-back wins against Cardiff City since 2009.
A win for the Owls this weekend could lift them into the top half of the Championship table, with just one point separating Wednesday in 15th and Swansea City in 11th.
