Jamal Lowe grabbed a goal on his Sheffield Wednesday debut last weekend.
Sheffield Wednesday sit top of the Championship table after the opening round of fixtures last weekend.
Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday thumped Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on what was a memorable opening day for the Owls.
Jamal Lowe scored on his debut, opening the scoring for Wednesday who added a second via an own goal, with Josh Windass and Michael Smith then putting the game beyond Plymouth’s reach.
Lowe joined Sheffield Wednesday as a free agent this summer after being let go by Bournemouth at the end of last season.
A Championship promotion-winner with Bournemouth, former Jamaican international Lowe now has 40 Championship goals in his career, from 187 outings in the second tier.
This summer, Joe Crann hailed Lowe’s impact at Sheffield Wednesday, with fans having high hopes for the versatile attacker despite the recent arrival of Ike Ugbo at Hillsborough.
But EFL pundit Sam Parkin doesn’t think the 30-year-old Lowe will be much of a talisman for the Owls this season.

Sam Parkin makes Jamal Lowe goals prediction at Sheffield Wednesday
Lowe’s best scoring season in the Championship was with Swansea City in the 2020/21 campaign.
That season, Lowe scored 14 goals as the Swans reach the play-offs; last time round, when on loan with Swansea, Lowe scored nine and assisted three in 35 Championship appearances.
Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast on Monday, EFL pundit Parkin said that he doesn’t think Lowe will hit double figures for goals this season.
Parkin said: “At the moment, if I was put on the spot, I’d say Jamal Lowe; despite his fine debut, he’s not someone I’m going to bank on getting double figures in the Championship.
“With Ike Ugbo now waiting in the wings; I said last week, again, I thought that was the final piece in the jigsaw to get them [Sheffield Wednesday] towards the top half of the division, and nothing’s going to change my mind.”

Danny Rohl needs one thing from Jamal Lowe at Sheffield Wednesday this season
Like Parkin suggests; Ugbo is the main no.9 at Sheffield Wednesday, and when available, he’ll likely start ahead of Lowe.
That is unless Lowe moves out wide when Ugbo is back, but after strong opening performances from the likes of Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama, Lowe might also find a starting spot on the wing difficult to obtain.
Playing such an intense style though, there’ll be plenty of rotating of the XI this season and Lowe will get his share of game time.
And all that Rohl needs from Lowe is energy, and availability when called upon.
If Lowe can chip in with the odd goal then that would be a bonus, and he showed against Plymouth that he can be a real poacher inside the penalty area.
Double figures should still be the aim for Lowe, but the message from Rohl will be to simply play the style.
