Sheffield Wednesday take on Sheffield United in the Championship this weekend. But in the Owls’ midweek win over Norwich City, there was a new injury concern for Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday gave more than an appropriate reaction to their 6-2 defeat against Watford over the weekend, with what was a commanding 2-0 win against Norwich City at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.
Thaw Owls scored twice in the first half through Josh Windass and then Dominic Iorfa and are now level on points with the Canaries on 18.
Sheffield Wednesday sit in 13th place of the Championship table ahead of their trip to Sheffield United on Sunday, whilst the Blades sit in 2nd place after winning 2-1 at Bristol City on Tuesday.
For what is Danny Rohl’s first Steel City derby, he has a few injuries in the first-team squad with Akin Famewo now injured for Sheffield Wednesday, long with Michael Ihiekwe, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Olaf Kobacki.

Dominic Iorfa shares positive injury update after Sheffield Wednesday beat Norwich City
Owls defender Iorfa was forced off on the hour mark against Norwich City with a facial injury.
It handed Rohl yet another defensive injury concern, but after the game Iorfa would confirm that he’s been given the all clear to play in the Steel City derby this weekend.
Iorfa told the press: “I said to the Doc and Antonio [Quintela, club physio], ‘Will this affect my chances for the weekend?’ And they were clear that it won’t.”
Iorfa added: “Obviously it’s a big game this weekend. Everyone’s looking forward to it, and as players these are the games you want to be involved in.”
Sheffield United injuries ahead of Steel City derby
The Blades don’t have too many injuries right now, taking what currently looks like up to three absentees into Sunday’s Steel City derby.
Rhian Brewster missed the midweek game at Bristol City and looks set to be assessed ahead of the weekend.
Midfielder Tom Davies hasn’t played since March now with an ongoing hamstring issue keeping him on the sidelines. He’s tipped for a mid-November return but looks highly likely to miss this weekend’s game at Bramall Lane.
Youngster Sai Sachdev is a long-term absentee for the Blades with a broken leg sustained in September.
Sheffield Wednesday look to have Iorfa fit and firing for the weekend. But Rohl looks set to be without Famewo, Kobacki, Chalobah, and possibly Ihiekwe once again.
