Danny Rohl urges Sheffield Wednesday fans ‘stop talking’ about one thing ahead of Blackburn Rovers

Sheffield Wednesday were poor in their last outing against Preston North End. Despite that, they finished the game in 9th place of the table.

During the summer, Sheffield Wednesday fans would’ve certainly taken 9th place in the Championship table come this point of the season.

But there’s a lingering sense that the Owls are in a somewhat false league position, following their 1-1 draw against Preston last time out.

Danny Rohl was fuming with his Sheffield Wednesday players after the game, with several not looking up for the challenge.

Now unbeaten in four, with one defeat in six, the Owls sit just five point behind Blackburn Rovers in 6th, with the two teams meeting at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

Ahead of the game, many Owls fans on social media are lauding their team’s current league position, despite that poor display against Preston.

And Rohl has now called for talk about the league position to come to an end. He instead wants to talk about each performance.

Danny Rohl urges fans ‘stop talking’ about Sheffield Wednesday’s league position

Speaking to the press on Sunday, ahead of the Championship clash against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, Rohl reiterated the fact that he’s a very ambitious manager.

He called for talk about the league position to silence, preferring to talk about performances and the Owls’ ‘identity’.

Rohl said: “I am ambitious, my team is ambitious and we have to stop talking about the table.

“We have to speak about the performance, our identity, our journey and what we have to work hard on.”

Wednesday are now nine points above the Championship drop zone. A win against Blackburn Rovers could see them leapfrog West Brom in 8th, albeit unlikely with a huge goal difference swing needed.

John Eustace lauds Sheffield Wednesday’s recent form

Despite what Rohl says, Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace has spoken positively about Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the clash on Tuesday night.

He said: “They have good experience there with the players they’ve brought in and the players who were already there.

“They know what the Championship is all about, they have the experience and the manager’s a very good coach.

“They’re going well and it will be a difficult game.”

Barry Bannan will return for Sheffield Wednesday against Blackburn Rovers and he’ll be a very welcome return after missing the Preston game through suspension.

Like Rohl says, the focus must be on the performance. But if Wednesday win and remain in the top 10, there’ll be inevitable talk about the club’s league position.
