Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is often frustrated with his side’s performances, and Sunday’s Steel City derby was another.
Danny Rohl often has a lot to pick at with Sheffield Wednesday’s performances, with the Owls having been so hit and miss during his 13 months in charge.
The German has now overseen 57 games in charge of the Owls and has 24 wins, 10 draws, and 23 losses to his name, with the 23rd defeat coming at Bramall Lane on Sunday.
Sheffield Wednesday lost the Steel City derby 1-0 away at Sheffield United, with Tyrese Campbell scoring the only goal of the game on 50 minutes.
After the goal, Sheffield Wednesday fans were critical of James Beadle who many fans thought could’ve done more to prevent the goal.
Rohl didn’t speak on too many specifics after the game. Instead, he looked at the picture as a whole.

Danny Rohl thinks Sheffield Wednesday should have more points on the board
After the Sheffield United defeat, Rohl did defend under-fire Sheffield Wednesday striker Ike Ugbo, who fired yet another blank in the Championship.
Rohl then made an interesting comment about his side’s season as a whole, stating that he thinks Sheffield Wednesday should have more points on the board by now.
Against United, the Owls arguably enjoyed the better first 45. Then in games against the likes of QPR and Luton Town, Wednesday have thrown away points; in the case of Luton, three points were dropped from a winning position.
Journalist Dom Howson posted on X after the game:
How the Championship table would look if Sheffield Wednesday beat QPR and Luton Town
Against Luton, the Owls were leading, then going down to 10 men and losing 2-1. Against QPR, Wednesday were the better team and Barry Bannan scored in the 93rd minute, only to concede minutes later and draw 1-1.
Six points should’ve been taken from those two games, but only one was added to the tally. Them extra five points would, speaking after the Sheffield United defeat, have Sheffield Wednesday in 9th place of the Championship table.
It is in hindsight, of course. But there’s definitely a sense of ‘what if’ with the Owls this season. What if Wednesday had won those two games and been higher in the table for this Steel City derby, could they have done more?
Rohl certainly has issues to fix at Sheffield Wednesday. On the whole, though, the club remains on an upwards trajectory.
