Nathaniel Chalobah is yet to play a game for Sheffield Wednesday, but we could be seeing the midfielder in action sooner rather than later, as Danny Rohl delivers a positive update on his rehabilitation.
Sheffield Wednesday signed Nathaniel Chalobah on a free transfer in the summer, and there was a hope that a player of his calibre and experience could prove to be valuable for Danny Rohl’s side.
However, Chalobah has been struggling for fitness all season and has not been able to contribute for the Owls so far.
But, with the international break now upon us, Rohl and his players have just less than two weeks to get in shape and prepare for their next game against Cardiff City, and Chalobah’s big debut could be imminent.

Nathaniel Chalobah could be ready after international break
Rohl was discussing the 29-year-old’s situation with The Star on Thursday, and provided a detailed assessment of Chalobah’s current condition and when we can expect to finally see him in the blue and white of Wednesday.
He said: “It’s always the same process, you go through rehab, then they go onto the grass with the rehab coaches and then they can be involved in some parts of training. He was involved in rondos but not part of the game and this will be the next step.
“There is the next week and the international break, then the next step is to play some minutes and the bigger picture. Hopefully he is back maybe after the international break, the Wednesday or Thursday. That would be good.
“We will cross our fingers there is no setback, sometimes you never know when you step up the intensity, it could be that you drop a little bit, but so far it looks very good.”

Danny Rohl can benefit from Nathaniel Chalobah experience
Chalobah is not the kind of player that is likely to absolutely transform Sheffield Wednesday, but he will certainly bring a lot of benefits to the team, most notably his experience in the Championship.
Of all the summer signings Sheffield Wednesday made this year, Chalobah is the one that has played at the very top level before, and has turned out in the second tier for a number of seasons now.

He’s got the resilience, composure, and most importantly, the discipline Wednesday have been lacking this term, and that kind of mental fortitude could be huge for a team that are currently struggling to grind out results when their backs are against the wall.
With four big games coming up for Wednesday against teams they could and should be beating if they want to push on and avoid a relegation battle, having someone like Chalobah back will be a boost, and could really help the Owls climb the table quickly.
