Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is set to meet with owner Dejphon Chansiri in the coming weeks.
Sheffield Wednesday have a lot on their plate right now.
Four games without a win in the Championship has refreshed fears of relegation into League One, whilst overall fears for the future persist.
Chansiri remains a public enemy among Sheffield Wednesday fans.
The 1867 Group is still at large and the summer ahead could really see Sheffield Wednesday unravel; under the weight of Chansiri’s mismanagement.
There’s up to 18 players set to leave Hillsborough this summer, possibly along with Rohl who has interest from Sunderland.
And Rohl could even take the Sheffield Wednesday backroom team to Sunderland this summer, should the Black Cats bring him in.
Danny Rohl set for meeting with Dejphon Chansiri
Chansiri remains an illusive figure at Sheffield Wednesday.
He’s not been seen for some time now, and rather understandably. Though Rohl says that he is set to meet with the controversial Owls owner in the coming weeks.
And we can expect some of the club’s facilities to be a talking point.
Rohl recently addressed the state of the changing rooms and certain other facilities in what seemed like a plea to Chansiri to improve the infrastructure of the club.
Now, speaking to the press ahead of the Championship clash vs QPR on Saturday, Rohl was quizzed on the club’s facilities and the improvements needed, to which he replied:
“This is all in all, a topic for the next weeks. I will meet him of course, and then we sit together. I have my list in different parts. It’s about what we can improve from our football side. What we need for this, what we can do with the squad. What we have to do to get some updates around the players and facilities. I have this in my mind. But we have to achieve our goals, and this is for me the biggest point.”
Then asked if Rohl will be presenting Chansiri with a long list of improvements, he said:
“I would say that this is not small. But also you have to look, and I notice you cannot do everything immediately. You have to look what are the key points, what is really helpful and then maybe what is step two, step three. But the important one is to stay in the league.”
Dejphon Chansiri struggles at Sheffield Wednesday
Chansiri has since found out that throwing money at the club, or rather the playing staff, won’t make Sheffield Wednesday a better club.
And now it seems like he has to throw money at other things, sustainably of course, such as the Middlewood training ground, the changing rooms like Rohl says, and the Hillsborough pitch which has been a source of criticism in recent weeks.
If Chansiri can’t promise some of these improvements then Rohl will surely leave.
Rohl meeting with Chansiri at the end of the season has an air of Darren Moore meeting with Chansiri ahead of this season.
That meeting of course ended with Moore leaving the club, so fans will be fearful of a repeat occurrence, and then Rohl leaving would surely kick-start a horde of subsequent departures from the playing and coaching staff.
So for Chansiri, there’s a lot to do, but whether he has the resources capable remains to be seen.
Like Rohl says though, beating the drop is the first and foremost objective.
