Danny Rohl has provided an update on Sheffield Wednesday’s intense training during the international break.
Speaking to the official club website, the Owls manager explained how he was taking his players through a mini pre-season in preparation for December.
Danny Rohl has only managed one win so far since joining Sheffield Wednesday so far, though there appears to be a lot more positivity around the club.
Following their defeat to Millwall last weekend, Sheffield Wednesday are eager for improvement and Rohl is using the international break as a time to implement his playing style and get the best out of his team.
After previously admitting it would be a ‘tough’ week for the players, the 34-year-old manager has gone more in depth about his preparations for a busy winter period.
The Owls have nine games in the remaining six weeks of the year, including tough matches against the likes of Leicester City, Norwich and Preston North End.
Speaking to the club, Rohl said: “During the international break we will train stronger on the physical side of it.
“It will be a little bit like a pre-season for one week to train hard and improve our fundamentals to be ready for December, with a lot of matches and not so much training.
“We find good solutions between training hard and recovery but when we have recovery, it’s more about work on the mind, with videos, and maybe some soft training sessions on the pitch.

“We learn from every match and I am convinced if we play at 100% then we can do it, it’s a long way, there are many games to go but we need 100%, anything less and it’s not possible.
“The good thing about the international break is you can recover the players and come back with more of them in good shape, the intensity from the load can make them stronger as we go forward.”
Can Sheffield Wednesday keep up with Rohl’s plans?
Sheffield Wednesday will be ready to go again next weekend, with only Di’Shon Bernard called up to their national team during the international break.
However, Danny Rohl is certainly asking a lot from his players as they look to take their work-rate and intensity up a notch.
The winter period is known for constant football, injuries and fatigue, and Sheffield Wednesday will be expected to ‘play at 100%’ every few days.
Rohl will have to heavily rely on substitutions and squad depth if he is going to get the best out of his players over the next couple of months.
