Sheffield Wednesday earned a huge 2-0 win against relegation rivals Millwall last weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday headed to The Den last Saturday, for what had become a huge six-pointer in the fight for survival.

And the Owls, inspired by Anthony Musaba, eventually beat Millwall 2-0, with Ike Ugbo scoring the first and Musaba the second.

Ugbo has now scored three goals in six Championship games since joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Troyes last month.

And ahead of the weekend clash vs Bristol City, Danny Rohl has revealed the conversation he had with Ugbo ahead of the Millwall clash.

Danny Rohl reveals Ike Ugbo talk before Millwall game

Speaking to The Star ahead of Saturday’s game against Bristol City at Hillsborough, Rohl was discussing Ugbo’s recent form, and revealed the chat he had with him after the defeat vs Leicester City last week.

Ugbo started that game but was hauled off at half-time as Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 against the league leaders.

Rohl said:

“Ike showed that he is ready for our game. He is enjoying being part of our group now. We spoke really honestly about the Leicester game. His feedback was very honest. He enjoys our football, he enjoys being part of Wednesday and you feel it. There is more and more self-confidence and it’s great to see.

“As a striker you need the momentum to score. Now he has scored again and again and there’s now the players around him. This is what we missed in the first months of the season and we are closer, but it is still a long way to go.”

Man manager Rohl has Sheffield Wednesday pulling in same direction

Under Xisco Munoz at the start of the season, there seemed to be a clear feeling of discontent in the side, and a disconnection among supporters.

But Rohl has not only instilled a sense of belief in the fight for survival, and a brand new and effective playing style, but a huge sense of family and togetherness.

The German comes across as a very warm yet honest person. He’s often spoke about having these honest conversations with players and after four months in the job, it seems like Rohl is getting the very best out of his players.

So his tactics off the pitch are clearly working. And his chat with Ugbo clearly worked as the Canadian got on the scoresheet vs Millwall after a tough performance vs Leicester.

Ugbo now looks like he could fire Sheffield Wednesday to an unlikely survival this season, with a win against Bristol City this weekend able to lift the Owls to within one point of safety.

Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, with Millwall travelling to Southampton under new boss Neil Harris.
