Sheffield Wednesday are near the top of a concerning statistic which is not good news for one star.
So far this campaign, Wednesday have been performing fairly well on the field. The club find themselves mid-table and could still push for the playoffs if they get on a good run of form.
Danny Rohl’s side have had plenty of encouraging results recently, however, their defeat in the Steel City derby last weekend no doubt left a sour taste going into the international break.
Now, with a third of the season behind them, it is a good chance to assess where the Wednesday squad is at. However, one key statistic indicates that James Beadle has largely underperformed this campaign.
James Beadle has let in more goals than expected this season for Sheffield Wednesday

One good way to judge a goalkeeper’s performance is to look at how many goals a club is expected to concede and compare it to the actual number.
However, according to WhoScored, the Owls are heavily underperforming in this department. After 15 games, Wednesday were expected to only concede 22.27 goals, however, they have let in 25.
This gives the club a 2.73 difference which is the third-highest in the Championship.
Obviously, this looks poor for Beadle who has admitted that he hasn’t had a good season.
According to Fbref, the goalkeeper has only has a 63.2% save rate putting him in the bottom 6% for the last 365 days. This has contributed to an average of 1.44 goals conceded per game in the same period.
Sheffield Wednesday need to give Pierce Charles a chance

One thing is clear, Beadle will likely part ways with Wednesday at the end of the season when his loan is completed.
While the goalkeeper has been improving in recent weeks, the club is currently sitting on one of the best upcoming talents in the Championship.
In the Carabao Cup, Pierce Charles was praised for his performance against Brentford and showed every sign that he could become a top ‘keeper in the future.
If Beadle’s form drops off again, Wednesday must give Charles a run in the next to see how he performs after a consistent run of games.
