Daniel Farke has wished Danny Rohl luck following his arrival at Sheffield Wednesday and has revealed what he has heard about the manager already.
Speaking during Leeds United’s press conference, Farke admitted that his fellow German had taken on a ‘big job’ at Hillsborough.
Danny Rohl was appointed as Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager following Xisco Munoz’s dismissal, though he fell to defeat against Watford in his opening game at the weekend.
Rohl now joins his compatriot in the English second tier, with Farke having won six of his opening 12 games since joining Leeds United in the summer.
Rohl has a huge task on his hands as the Owls sit bottom of the Championship table, nine points from safety.
Farke has recognised the ‘difficult’ job that the 34-year-old has taken, though has claimed he has heard Rohl has ‘good potential’.
Speaking to the media, Farke said: “We are different people; I’ve never met him or know his personality or tactical choices or the way he works.
“For everyone I have my fingers crossed and I hope he will do a good job. Sheffield is a big job.
“I am far away from giving hints.
“The Championship is the toughest league in the world and the first season on this level is always difficult.
“You have to develop pretty quick. Experience helps, but if you want to be there you have to go through it.
“From what I hear he has good potential. Hopefully he brings this into the job.”
Will the Danny Rohl risk pay off?
Sheffield Wednesday took a big risk in appointing Danny Rohl, who has become the youngest manager in the EFL in what is only his first role as head coach.
However, the former defender has picked up experience with RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich and the German national team, which certainly shows a lot of promise for his managerial career.
Whether it is the right experience to handle any kind of relegation battle we shall see, but hopefully he can guide the Owls up the table before that becomes a real threat.
