Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has penned a message to Owls supporters ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Sheffield Wednesday are nearing the start of the 2024/25 Championship season.
Danny Rohl sees his side welcome Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle to Hillsborough this weekend, for what promises to be a tough opening game for the Owls.
So far this summer, Sheffield Wednesday have signed nine new players, playing in five friendly marches too.
The last one was a 0-0 draw at home to Leganes in Liam Palmer’s testimonial match.
Rohl and indeed Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri will be eager to see how this new-look first-team squad fares in the Championship next season.
And Chansiri will be hoping to see a drastic improvement on last season’s 20th place finish after spending money on the likes of Yan Valery and Olaf Kobacki this summer, with a big-money striker signing expected before the August 30th deadline too.

Barry Bannan’s Sheffield Wednesday message ahead of Plymouth Argyle
Bannan signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract earlier this summer, keeping him at the club for at least another season.
He enters his 10th season with the club and will add to his 402 first-team appearances for the Owls.
Once again, the Owls skipper will look to play a crucial role for the club, both on and off the pitch.
And taking to Instagram after the draw vs Leganes and head of the opening weekend of Championship football this weekend, Bannan had this message for supporters:

Bannan showed once again last season that he’s not only a player with quality, but a player who can still play a lot of games at Championship level.
Despite being 34, Bannan managed to rack up 42 Championship appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, having played at least 40 league matches for the Owls in every season since the 2017/18 campaign.
His leadership qualities will be vital next season, especially with a lot of new players having arrived, and a few younger players too.
Bannan will be key to helping the squad gel and also in managing expectations next season, with many already tipping the Owls to be potential dark horses in the Championship next season.
Plymouth promises to be a testing opening game for the Owls. But after such a positive summer, Bannan and co will be hoping that they can turn that positivity into results when Sunday’s game comes around.
