Bailey Cadamarteri has labelled Sheffield Wednesday fans ‘unreal’ after the win over Blackburn Rovers.
Writing on his X account, the striker admitted he had ‘never had a feeling’ like the one he had after scoring his first senior goal.
Despite suffering an injury last season that kept him on the treatment table till halfway through pre-season, Bailey Cadamarteri has actually begun to really make his mark on the Sheffield Wednesday squad.
The 18-year-old made his Championship debut against Millwall last month, before he was handed his first start in the midweek draw with Leicester City.
It was only days later that Cadamarteri scored a very early opener against Blackburn Rovers, before goals from Marvin Johnson and Josh Windass confirmed the three points.
The teenager shared his delight at his goal on his X account last night, while also praising his supporters.
He wrote: “Wow never had a feeling like it. A start. A goal. A win. Happy fans. Ground was rocking. Even my dad @Dannycadz said well done. I must have done ok. Although he did say I should have had 2. @swfc Fans were unreal. We go again against Stoke WAWAW.”
Can Bailey Cadamarteri keep his place in the Sheffield Wednesday team?
With the rest of Sheffield Wednesday’s striker options not really performing, it is brilliant to see a young academy product coming through and showing them how its done.
Danny Rohl has five senior strikers at his disposal (when fit), however they have only claimed a total of five goals between them all season.
Bailey Cadamarteri looks to be the real deal for the Owls and hopefully this can be his breakthrough season in which he helps secure his side’s future in the Championship.
Though if reports about Djephon Chansiri splashing the cash on a new forward are true, Cadamarteri will have to put in the extra work to keep his place in the team.
It is thought that the Sheffield Wednesday owner is ready to pay big money to bring a quality attacker to the club on loan, coughing up up to £30,000-a-week on a new signing.
It can only be healthy competition for Cadamarteri, though surely the Owls should consider offloading some of their other forwards before they bring anyone new in. The likes of Ashley Fletcher and Mallik Wilks are unlikely to have much of a future here.
