Sheffield Wednesday earned a memorable win over Blackburn Rovers tonight, and it’s an even more memorable match for one player in particular.
Sheffield Wednesday desperately needed a win to give themselves any kind of hope going into the festive period, and they claimed a huge three points this afternoon.
Following on from their impressive draw vs Leicester City in midweek, Danny Rohl‘s side comfortably beat play-off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers 3-1 at Hillsborough, capping an incredible night for the team.
And the scoring was opened by youngster Bailey Cadamarteri; making his second consecutive start under Rohl and scoring his first professional goal.
It was a well-taken finish inside the box and it caps what will have been an eventful week for the Owls academy graduate.

Cadamarteri had already won over the hearts of Wednesday fans before tonight’s goal.
He’s been making waves in the youth ranks and in his full league debut for Sheffield Wednesday vs Leicester City, he announced himself on the scene.
He’s an energetic and lively player who oozes confidence despite his age, and it was only a matter of time before his first league goal came about.
And once he scored tonight, Sheffield Wednesday fans took to social media to sing heir praises of the 18-year-old, with Joe Crann getting in on the action too.

All season, Sheffield Wednesday have lacked a goal-scorer.
But in Cadamarteri, Rohl has uncovered a new star in their fight for survival, and Sheffield Wednesday’s chances of survival all of a sudden look a lot brighter.
The last two performances have been huge and whilst there’s still a huge mountain to climb for Sheffield Wednesday, there’s a much more optimistic mood among the fans right now.
And Cadamarteri looks like he could go on and play a key role for the Owls this season.
He could yet right himself into Wednesday folklore if he can go on and score a few more goals and get Sheffield Wednesday up and out of the drop zone.
Expect Rohl to remain cautious with his progression, but consecutive starts against Leicester City and Blackburn shows the German’s faith in Cadamarteri.
Up next for the Owls is a trip to Stoke City next weekend; another win here would really put the wind in Wednesday’s sails as they look to get closer to the safety zone.
