Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City go head-to-head in the Championship tonight, but both sides will be without a number of players.
Danny Rohl will be looking for a huge improvement from his team after the 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Watford at the weekend.
Sheffield Wednesday’s predicted lineup for the clash with Norwich reflects the fact Rohl will be keen to make some changes to his team to rectify the defensive issues displayed on Saturday.
However, he doesn’t quite have a full squad to pick from. But, the Owls are in a slightly stronger position than their upcoming opponents, with Norwich seeing their squad depleted in recent weeks.
Here, we take a look at the absentees from both sides and how it could affect the starting XI for Wednesday and Norwich.
Sheffield Wednesday missing three players for Norwich game
Thankfully, the one positive for Sheffield Wednesday coming out of the Watford game at the weekend was that Rohl had no fresh injuries to worry about.
But, the German coach will still be without Olaf Kobacki. The new signing has missed the last two games and is expected to be out until mid-December with his injury.
Akin Famewo is also set for a substantial spell on the sidelines and will miss the game against his former club. Rohl confirmed the defender has suffered a ‘big’ injury and faces months out of action.
Another new arrival at Hillsborough, Nathaniel Chalobah, continues to be unavailable for selection. The former Chelsea man has not featured for the Owls yet this season, as concerns over his fitness linger.
Norwich City without key men for trip to Hillsborough
Norwich are far worse off than Wednesday, though. Johannes Hoff Thorup will be without five players for the game on Tuesday night, including his first-choice goalkeeper and his star striker.
Josh Sargent is out with a groin injury and is not expected back until after the November international break, while Angus Gunn is also struggling for fitness.
Thorup’s midfield plans have been ruined, too, with Anis Ben Slimane and Marcelino Núñez both on the injury table, and Kenny McLean serving a suspension after his red card against Middlesbrough at the end of October.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the Canaries, though, as they welcomed back both Jacob Lungi Sorensen and Christian Fassnacht at the weekend.
