Ian Poveda took to Instagram to share a hilarious dig at Rotherham United after Sheffield Wednesday’s victory this weekend.

Ike Ugbo’s sixth goal in five games gifted Sheffield Wednesday a vital three points against local rivals Rotherham yesterday, making it their fourth win in less than a month.

The Owls could have gone level on points with 21st place if results had gone their way, but Stoke City, QPR, Huddersfield and Millwall all managed to avoid defeat.

The Millers had nothing to really play for though and were eager to drag the Owls down with them, but they were unable to prevent their own loss and instead widened the gap between themselves and safety to a whopping 19 points.

Ian Poveda made his fifth consecutive start for Sheffield Wednesday and put on another solid display to help contribute to an important three points.

With celebrations continuing after the full-time whistle, the Colombian took to Instagram to share his delight and take a dig at Rotherham.

Alongside various images from the match at the New York Stadium, Poveda wrote: “Rugby union fc boxed off, onto Tuesday”, with an emoji of a rugby ball.

The winger then received a number of responses from his teammates and footballers elsewhere.

Ike Ugbo replied with a laughing face emoji and a handshake emoji, to which Poveda wrote: “lol kmt WrestleMania”.

Former Crystal Palace and Everton star Yannick Bolasie wrote ‘Carlooo’ with two fire emojis, to which Poveda replied: “my Gee!!!”

Leeds United’s Jaidon Anthony’s laughing face emoji received a response from the 24-year-old that read “lolll freedom… of speech”, while Anthony Musaba wrote ‘magic’, Mallik Wilks wrote ‘Ladsssssss’ and Liam Palmer posted a telephone emoji.

Where does Ian Poveda’s future lie?

Ian Poveda seems to be really enjoying his football with Sheffield Wednesday, and a little bit of feistiness never hurt anyone.

The attacker really shows his passion and dedication to the Owls in the way he plays and celebrates, even though the future of Sheffield Wednesday might not even affect him if he leaves at the end of his loan spell.

Danny Rohl’s side will be eager to keep hold of him on a permanent basis though, while if they can stay up, it would be surprising if he didn’t want to stay too.

Poveda’s future at Leeds United looks very bleak and a taste of regular football under Rohl would surely tempt him to relocate beyond the summer.
