Sheffield Wednesday earned a huge 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers today, with one man dominating the stats.
Sheffield Wednesday claimed a credible point at home vs league leaders Leicester City in midweek, following that up with a monumental win over play-off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers.
It marks the end of a huge week for the Owls who took the lead through youngster Bailey Cadamarteri, scoring his first professional goal, and then scoring in the second half through Marvin Johnson and then Josh Windass late on.
It’s the most amount of goals that Sheffield Wednesday have scored in a single match this season and only their second win of the campaign, with Danny Rohl‘s side now 10 points behind Huddersfield Town after they drew with Swansea City.
In what was a massive team performance, one man stood out in particular; Will Vaulks.

Vaulks was everywhere today. He dominated the stats and earned high praise from The Star journalist Joe Crann, who posted on X:
As per Sofascore, Vaulks won more duels than any other Sheffield Wednesday player (9), more ground duels than any of his teammates (8), also completing more passes than any other Wednesday player (38).
What’s more, Vaulks had more touches of the ball than any Sheffield Wednesday player (85), also making more key passes than anyone on the pitch (4).
Playing in front of the defence, initially on his own, Vaulks absolutely bossed the midfield and kept Blackburn Rovers from playing their usual, progressive and attacking style of play.
Vaulks back to his best at Sheffield Wednesday
It’s been a mixed season for the 30-year-old.
He’s only featured 11 times in the Championship now after being unfavoured by Xisco Munoz, and having had to work his way into Rohl’s XI.
But the Welshman has started the last three now and, in the last two games in particular, he’s thoroughly impressed.
He puts himself about like no other player in the midfield, winning tackles and keeping opposition midfields from really creating opportunities and causing Wednesday problems.
It’s difficult to see a Wednesday XI without Vaulks in it now and that’s a huge credit to him and to Rohl for finding a role that gets the best out of him.
Up next for Sheffield Wednesday is a trip to Stoke City next weekend; the Potters have had a poor season so far and with Wednesday on a roll, it could be a very interesting match up.
