Sheffield Wednesday will feel hard done by after not taking anything away from the Luton Town game.
It has been rough couple of weeks for Danny Rohl and his Sheffield Wednesday players.
The Owls travelled to Luton Town on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off, searching for a much-needed three points.
Sheffield Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on the opening weekend remains their only victory of the 2024/25 league season so far.
This has led to the Yorkshire outfit flirting with relegation and sitting 21st in the Championship table after six fixtures.
With another relegation scrap likely on the cards for the Owls, any and all points will be so important for Rohl’s men this season.
As a result, the controversial penalty decision during Luton vs Sheffield Wednesday will be especially infuriating for the Hillsborough faithful and could prove very costly come the end of the campaign.

Rob Edwards reacts to Luton Town vs Sheffield Wednesday penalty decision
Wednesday looked to be closing in on a massive win against the Hatters after Barry Bannan put the away side 1-0 up after 52 minutes.
However, the game was turned on its head when Luton were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute.
Carlton Morris stepped up to convert from 12 yards while Wednesday also lost Di’Shon Bernard to a red card as a result of the challenge that led to the spot-kick.
With Luton having a man advantage and boosted by a late equaliser, it came as little surprise when Morris scored his second to secure Rob Edwards’ men the win.
The decision to award the penalty and brandish a red card was a controversial one and Luton’s manager Edwards has now reacted to the call, as per BBC Sounds.
He said: “But in the end — the handball, the penalty… all of that shifted the match and that’s why we love it and hate it at the same time.”

Sheffield Wednesday cannot dwell on Luton penalty call
Had that controversial penalty not been given, there is a chance Sheffield Wednesday would have earned a massive three points.
After failing to win their previous four league matches, securing three points against a recently relegated side with promotion aspirations would have no doubt boosted the player’s confidence massively.
But as is the case in football, especially in the Championship, poor referring decisions happen all the time and though the fans may, Sheffield Wednesday cannot dwell on what might have been had the call gone their way.
Wednesday are next in Championship action on September 28th when they face off with first-place West Bromwich Albion at Hillsborough.
The Baggies are one of three sides still undefeated in the second tier this term and Rohl and co. will need to be fully focused on preparing for that game, rather than thinking about the penalty call over the weekend.
